Accessibility Statement for Bauer

1. Bauer Hockey’s Web Shop

Bauer.com is the e-commerce website for BAUER, a hockey brand specializing in hockey equipment, accessories, and hockey-inspired apparel. Consumers visit Bauer.com to shop for and learn about BAUER products. We strive to ensure that our website offers an inclusive and accessible shopping experience for all users of our website, including individuals with disabilities.

This accessibility statement applies to all digital properties under the BAUER brand and describes how the e-platform complies with the European accessibility act, which applies in the EU and its member countries through law, regulations, and the local authorities’ practice and guidelines, any known accessibility issues, and how you can report deficiencies to us so that we can remedy them.

2. Accessibility of the Website

We aim to make our website usable by as many people as possible and have taken several steps to ensure accessibility:

  • Text on the site is designed with adequate color contrast to be accessible to customers who are colorblind or visually impaired. This includes body text, links, and form fields. When text is placed over an image, an overlay is used to ensure sufficient contrast against its background.
  • Text is large enough for customers to comfortably read, with a minimum font size of 16px for body text. Text alignment has consistent spacing between words.
  • It is possible to zoom in up to 400% without the text disappearing off the screen.
  • Text links use a visual differentiator, such as an arrow, to stand out from regular text. Whenever possible, text links open in the same tab when clicked.
  • Alt text is added to all images which contain important context for the surrounding content (ex: logos and other non-decorative images)
  • The website and its content are compatible with commonly used screen readers. Copy is always presented as live text, not embedded into images, to ensure compatibility with screen readers.
  • Slideshows on the site include controls that customers can use to pause or advance the slideshow.
  • Videos on the site do not play automatically. When videos play automatically for decorative purposes, their audio is muted (“ambient video”).
  • The website is designed to be navigable using a keyboard, without requiring the use of a mouse. Interactive page elements (links, buttons, and form fields) have a clear visual indicator when they have keyboard focus. When opening a modal, keyboard focus is contained within the modal.

We are committed to continuously improving accessibility.

3. How We Test Accessibility

We use a combination of manual and standardized methods to ensure our website meets accessibility requirements:

  • Third-party tools, such as automated testing services, browser extensions, and contrast checkers, which are designed to evaluate accessibility of websites and identify common issues.
  • Manual techniques, including keyboard-only navigation, screen reader testing, and checks for sufficient contrast, text size, and semantic structure.
  • Our design system is built with best practices for accessibility, including:
    • Color contrast
    • Text size and alignment
    • Text link visibility
    • Form fields and labels
  • Regular internal reviews, supplemented by consultations with accessibility experts to ensure ongoing compliance with accessibility standards.

4. Known Accessibility Issues and Fix Plans

We are aware that some parts of our service do not yet fully comply with accessibility requirements. We continuously monitor these issues and prioritize accessibility improvements across all content updates and feature developments. We are addressing areas such as color contrast, visual differentiation of links, and keyboard navigation for interactive elements. Improvements are being implemented on an ongoing basis in collaboration with our internal teams and relevant third-party providers. We continue to educate our internal designers and content authors to implement new features and content that meet the accessibility guidelines described above.

5. Third-Party Content

We strive to ensure that all aspects of our websites, including third-party integrations such as payment platforms or embedded content, are accessible. Should you encounter any accessibility barriers with third-party integrations, please let us know. We are committed to working with these third parties to address any accessibility issues as quickly as possible.
